We’re throwing a party, but not just any party: it’s our wedding. And yes, apparently that also requires a website.
Yes, yes, you might be wondering why a wedding needs a website. Well, so did the old guy (read: Sander). For the first time, we felt a real generation gap in our relationship. Most of the time, we pretend it doesn’t exist, but this time it was unavoidable. Apparently, not even a wedding can escape the internet anymore.
When it came to choosing a card, we already got stuck: no format was big enough to fit our message in all the necessary languages. The San-side of the guest list is simple: Dutch wooden shoes, herring, windmills and liquorice — textually dead easy. The Viv-side, however, comes from a few different wind directions: Brazil, Jordan, Iran, Russia, France, Cyprus, Italy, Sweden and who-knows-where-else. Samba, spices, vodka, baguette, halloumi, pasta and meatballs; exotic, warm-blooded, but impossible to squeeze onto one card.
So voilà: a wedding website by Viv and San. How fitting that the address is (www.vivensan.nl) 😉.
Here you’ll find some extra information. For most, it will be obvious; for some, it might serve as a small guide to the peculiar Dutch and Brazilian habits.
Only in three languages. The rest we’ll sort out with hand gestures and feet.
Ceremony
The ceremony will take place outdoors if the weather is on our side. For the Dutch, ‘reasonable weather’ usually means 12 to 16 degrees, with or without rain. For Brazilians, that often feels chilly. We suggest bringing a stylish jacket or shawl to stay warm and comfortable. If the weather becomes too cold, or if it snows or hails, the ceremony will be moved indoors.
Dress code
The dress code is summer chic. Please don’t come in gala attire, but do come looking beautiful — preferably in summery colours.
Accommodation
We rented a cottage at Landal Coldenhove. Unfortunately, we haven’t won the lottery yet, so we couldn’t do this for all of our guests. However, we were able to arrange a small discount. If you’re interested, send us an email at vivensan@kpnmail.nl.
If you’d prefer to stay elsewhere, you’ll surely find something in the Brummen or Eerbeek area. And by the way, Zutphen is also a very charming city.
We’ll do our best to arrange transport to and from the wedding. Once you’ve booked your hotel, please let us know which town you’ll be staying in.
Gifts
Our greatest joy will be celebrating with you. However, if you feel inclined to give us a gift, we’re saving up for cachaça during our honeymoon in December (IBAN NL21 INGB 0114 8868 30).
Dance
We’ve invited a band to provide the music for our wedding. We asked you to dress nicely for the day, but in the evening, you may want to swap those heels or tight shoes for something more comfortable. Even wooden shoes will do. Be our guest.
We are incredibly excited and truly hope you will be with us, because you make our day.
Please let us know below if you’re unable to attend and if you have any special dietary requirements (e.g., vegetarian, vegan, or liquid diet).
See you on the dance floor,
Viv & San
